Why do we give?
We give our tithes and offerings to God because He has given us everything through the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. Giving back ten percent is the standard tithing practice dating back to Bible times. The giving of the "first fruits" was and is a way to honor God, keeping us mindful that He is the source of all that we have. Offerings include the money given in addition to tithe.
We invite you to use Connect, the online community of Salem United Methodist Church, which provides secure password protected giving capabilities directly linked to your account in our database. "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." - Malachi 3:10 NIV
